Camping at Doheny

This weekend we headed to Doheny State Beach for our first family vacation. Because it was our first camping trip with Ella (and Carl!) we decided to only stay one night. Surprisingly Ella and Carl both did great, it was the weather and the park rangers that were trying our patience. Unfortunately the rain clouds moved in and the sun was no where to be found. We made the best of it by setting up the EZ-Up and starting the camp fire early. At about 9pm, the park ranger came by to tell us that our tent was in a common area, not fully in our campsite, and would need to be moved...immediately! It was so frustrating! Luckily we had really great neighbors that helped uproot and re-stake the tent. Even though there were some bumps along the way, I would call our first overnight trip with the baby a success.

Memorial Day

I know I am a little late but I wanted to share some pictures from Memorial Day. We spent the afternoon at Guy's Grandparents house with the family and had a great day!

Just Chillin'

Since having my surgery we have been staying home and recovering. We wanted to get out of the house but stay close to home so we headed to Grandma and Grandpa Thomas' house. Guy did a little bit of swimming but mostly we just visited with family and had a relaxing day!

Willow Springs

My whole life my Dad has been riding motorcycles, and last weekend Guy got a little taste at my Dad's track day. Guy, Danny and Chad all headed out to Willow Springs to hang out and help my Dad with whatever he needed. Guy took a TON of pictures (almost 300) and made a video that you guys can check out on You Tube.

Carl vs. Samson

I think Carl has finally met his match in Alphonso and Valerie's miniature schnauzer named Samson. Samson is much smaller that Carl but that did not stop them from wrestling and chasing each other for 5 hours straight. It so nice to finally have a dog around that is willing to play as rough as Carl. Hopefully they turn into life long friends

Demo Derby '09

Who can pass up the demo derby? A night full of loud cars crashing into each other, beer, kettle corn, and a stadium full of fellow desert folks! With having had such a great and unforgettable time last year (thanks Rich & Sarah!!) we decided it was something we couldn't miss. Family, friends, and great food made for an awesome night that is sure to bring us back next year!

Pool Party

Ella attended her very first pool party this weekend, complete with frilly baby bathing suit and turtle flotation device. We waited until all of the older kids had left the pool and then decided to give it a try. She loves the bath so we figured the pool would be a hit, and it was.

and apparently all that swimming wore her out, because this is what followed...

Peace

Grandma Parkinson bought Ella this cute outfit and even cuter pair of sunglasses. Often Ella slips in the middle finger to the picture, which is sure to be a future blog, but in this picture decided the peace sign was a better fit.

Fair Fun

Guy, Chris, Ella and I decided to go check out the fair last night. We had a good time walking through the exhibits and eating some always healthy fair food. Ella sported her very first pair of jeans which I think are adorable!

Guy held a scorpion! Gross!

We saw some super cute baby pigs

Admired Valerie's(Guy's Sis)3rd place ribbon on the painting she entered! So Exciting!!

and finished off the night with a delicious cup of Starbucks Coffee...Good Times!

JUMP!

Ever since the baby shower when we got the jumper, Guy has been wanting to put her in it. Yesterday, he finally did. Although she is still a bit to small to really enjoy it, she did hang out in it for a while and take in the sights. Carl on the other hand loves it because it brings Ella down to his level so that he can check her out. I am sure the future hold's many exciting times hanging out in the jumper!
p.s. the band-aids on her leg are from her first set of shots =(

Take Some Lessons

Even though Ella is now 2 months old, I am still trying to master the multi-tasking skills needed so that while taking care of her stuff still gets done around the house. It looks like I need to take some lessons from Guy who can talk on the phone, work on the computer, and take care of the baby all at the same time. Love you babe!

2 months already

We went to the doctor today for Ella's 2 month appointment. The doctor said she is "perfect" (I would have to agree), and falls in to the 50th percentile in all categories. She is holding her head up, cooing, and starting to smile all of the time. Now if only we could get her to sleep through the night...someday =). Her stats are as follows...

Height: 22.
Weight: 11 lbs 8oz
Head: 15"

First Mother's Day

It was so exciting to celebrate my first Mothers Day! Guy was great and let me relax all day. We went out to breakfast and then spent the afternoon with family down at Victoria Gardens. Now having a child of my own, I have a new appreciation for my own mother. I can only hope that one day Ella will look to me for advice the way I look to my Mom. I hope all the Moms out there also had a great day!
